Still no apples yet

The cupboard is bare at Nagog Hill Orchard.

The scene was earlier today.

Luckily I'd brought along a Jazz apple from New Zealand.

Funny thing about that apple, shipped all the way to New England in July. Through whatever accident of harvesting or timing or freshness or storage, it was jaw-breakingly hard, like a Blue Pearmain or even an Arkansas Black.

Also, it had a distinct banana note in the mix of flavors, something I missed in my original review. That could have been because It had warmed up a little in my bike bag before I tasted it.
